With my double roller timing set the crank oil slinger does not fit between the crank timing gear and the timing chain cover. In this situation do I omit this part or are there thinner versions available?

Thanks
Trevor

I accidentally left the oil slinger out of my 250 straight six when I rebuilt it. It didn't leak the first year, but some time during the second summer after the rebuild it started leaking. I was too lazy to tear everything apart to fix it, so I just drove it. The leak was never so much that I would run low on oil between changes, but it was ugly on the motor. I ran it for 8 years before I decided to pull it in favor of a 302, but the oil leak was never more than an annoyance.

.. your results may vary.. :D

Thanks for the info guys. I did a search too and found pretty much the same answers. Its together now and I will see how it is. If it begins to leak too bad I will just have to switch back to a standard timing set. Its easy enough to replace in a year or so if warranted.
