crappy nite at the strip

2 weeks ago she was running pretty strong with trap speeds in the 76 to 78mph range and times btw 9.3 and 9.5 (all 1/8 mile passes). Tonite she was bogging down BIG TIME, it felt like I had the AC on (which I didnt). I was powerbrakeing to about 1500 rpm and flooring it on launch, once it got past 1st gear it got better but not much, the car has 27000 miles so should I do some basic maintenance (fuel filter and PCV valve) before going any further?

With an automatic I would load up the converter to 2000k or so, and release the brake when the second yellow pops. Then EASE into the accelerator pedal. It's easier said than done, takes lots and lots of practice.

If you havent flushed your tranny yet, its about time. Get yourself some 4.10s and youll be much happier.

So....let me ask the obvious. Did you remember to turn off the traction control?

What about gas mileage w/4.10's, since 80% of my driving is highway miles.

Mine didnt seem to change significantly. Get some pulleys if you want to improve milage and gain a few hp. I turn 3k rpm at 80. Thats fine for me. You could get some 3.90s I guess but the 4.10s and chip are by far the best cheap mods to wake up an auto. Huge difference. 1st gear is SO long with the 3.27s.:barf: I could never go back, I'm telling you its is a vast improvement. Much more than anything else I've done.

The gears will really help at the track and make daily driving a lot more fun.
