It does not take 2 weeks for a car to make it down the assembly line. I don't see how it could possibly be a "rush job".

I have a new Vin and have an expected ship date end of next week. I was offered a few different dealer stock cars in lieu of my car but for 40k I want what I want lol. New car should be here soon... At least it better be

Id believe it.
I wear shorts, Tshirt and a baseball hat everytime I've bought a car. Anyone ruling me out based on that, I'd prefer not to give my money anyways

Sucks that they smashed your car for no apparent reason. Did you already have money down for that car? How can they do that for a car you have purchased?

It was technically ordered as dealer stock which would in theory get me the car sooner. While I did leave a small deposit I can't actually purchase the car until it is on the dealer lot

That's insane that you still don't have the car. Is there note a dealer stock car anywhere close with your options??

About 8 hours away but it doesn't have all of the options I wanted. Dealer is telling me 11/15 delivery date so less than 2 more weeks

So is that car still considered dealer stock or retail order? Hopefully it's retail that way they might have been a little more careful with it

Technically it is dealer stock.. I have gone as far as to have a regional sales rep from ford headquarters involved in this as it is proving to become a real hassle. If it wasn't for the large pile of parts that I have already accumulated for the car and a few other commitments it would be easy to tell them to shove it. I'll suffer through the next two weeks and hopefully have my car.

Note to Ford:

Pull your heads out of your asses. THIS is not the age that you want to be pissing off customers through poor judgement and lack of planning.

How tough is it to create an app to pre-select cars for testing before they're even made so that cars which are basically sold don't leave folks waiting?

Answer: About 5 minutes given that the database of vin#s is already built.

I'm not glad to see that ya got boned T-top but I'm glad to see that it's a staff member where this kind of silliness get's some exposure (if that even matters at all).

I can see WHY they randomly pick the cars instead of preselecting them. I wouldn't be surprised if there were regulations requiring it to be done that way.

Still blows

This is why I suggest another solution.

It would apply if/when the Vin #s were randomly selected by computer. Those Vins would not be obligated to other destinations. In other words: No dealership or other entity would be able to put a purchase order in for that vehicle.

It can all be done before the vehicle is even built. No one but the computer would know which vehicles are selected. It would look in the computer as if the vehicle was already obligated or sold.

Because they're cheap? Hey if it doesn't happen return the parts and get another car - no car is worth that crap

This sounds good in theory but all of the dealer ordered cars are ordered to the dealers specs and all of the customer ordered cars are built to their specs. There unfortunately is no such thing as a stock factory optioned car as in years past. Each dealer specifies which options they want for a car on their lot. I recently bought a 2014 F150 leftover from the same dealer for work and the only difference between that truck and one at a neighboring dealer was the back up camera, the difference of what the dealer though would be a good selling point. Kind of like the tastykake man stocking the store shelves with what he thinks will sell. The whole deal sucks and sure does leave a sour taste in my mouth for sure. I bought my first 98' Mustang in 2000 from this dealer as an off lease car and have since bought a new 2010 Ford Escape for the Ex wife and a new 2011 F250 Diesel just for me personally, not to mention a countless number of work vehicles in the last 10 years. I thought I was a good customer... hahaha boy was I wrong... Nissan work vans from now on for me, lol
I really like the 2015 and the coyote platform and that is the biggest reason that I'm holding on for it. This dealer to an extent and Ford corporate for sure has really let me down though

To a database.... None of that matters.

Vins are preselected. Some dealership order a cars with xyz and it falls on vin number 123. Vin 123 has been previously selected. It's not a car, it's just a Vin. That Vin would then not be assigned to dealership. Instead, that Vin is pulled. The car is still built but the computer doesn't ship it. Instead, another car is built the same way with a subsequent Vin to be sent the dealership.

This isn't rocket science and I'm sure that Ford and the NTSB (or whomever is pulling the strings) could figure out pretty easily. We sent men to the moon in the 70s.
