I am kicking around some ideas for my car. It's a 1994 GT 'vert. And I was wondering what else you thought I might need to do with a crate motor from CHP (Street Fighter 347). The guy at Coast High that I talked to said that the stock fuel pump would be good. It comes with injectors, and he said I would just need to get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. That and a throttle body, MAF and dyno tune.

I am thinking that I would also do LT headers, and a mid pipe to add to my Am. Thunder cat back, completing the exhaust.

But I'm wondering how much else I should plan on. Like can I expect to keep the T-5 for long? What about the drive shaft, diff and axels? Any other weak links? (Radiator, thermostat?)

Coast High rates their 347 crate at 420 hp (flywheel) and 395 Tq. (ratings are for the carborated version)

I am toying with the idea of leaving the drivetrain (tranny back) stock, and using street tires, on the thought that I would lose traction long before breaking something.

Appreciate any thoughts.

From what I see over the years I think you'll be all right...Long as you dont beat the snot out it.... The factory stuff will stand some abuse...lots of cars can attest to that..look in MMFF/5.0 mag tons of 1/4 guys still run the stuff...
T5s are pretty stout if cared for...lotsa guys pushing big HP numbers with em. rears and difs are the same deal....I would back that motor up with a nice clutch set-up though...Its gonna need it for sure...

Nice choice on the motor, should be a hoot to drive...Instant balls... Ahh yes, some day i to shall do the same......

Theres NO way would I consider using the stock fuel pump to feed that combo.

Just think about it......420 fwhp through a t5 is about 360 rwhp.

I'd run a 255 in tank pump with at least 30's for that setup.

You will generate more heat with that combo so you very well may need to upgrade the cooling system.
