Sometimes I get this crazy blue flash of light in my fuel gauge. It can last for 2 to 15 seconds. It always looks like the light is burning out. It is always my fuel gauge but not always in the same place. Most of the time however it is by F in "Full" Hot or cold day or night it does't matter. Does this ever happen to anyone else?

I have never heard of such a thing. You probably had something come loose inside the gauge cluster. Open it up and look inside.

That happened to my car the day after I drove it off the lot. It also happened alongside fuel gauge failure (full tank, gauge read empty for 2 straight startups, then it magically was fixed.)

I brought it in, they couldn't find a problem, and it hasn't happened since.

I did in the beginning as well. But when it happened at night the first time, with the green backlight on then the big blue flash I thought otherwise. Oh well. Just weird I guess.

I have a 2000 base model, 5-speed standard. The blue light comes and goes on mine too, usually exactly the same as in the pic from the first post, but sometimes it shows up in the 3/4 mark instead. Sun spots, alien contact?

Almost looks like an EL (electro-luminescent) illumination issue -- if the overlays even use that.

Does it happen only when the headlights are on?

It was during the day, no light on at all.

You gotta take that cluster apart...there's no blue light in that cluster...it looks like a blue LED, but these clusters only use incandescent light bulbs...thats not even the color of the cluster...

Very curious as to what this is...maybe you found the notorious CEL gremlin. ..
