So I spend the day pulling an engine and tranny out of an 87 mustang gt.
I am taking the t5 from the drivetrain and I just now went to identify it.

the bellhousing: E6ZR-6394-AA
the gear box: 13-52-065-908
the shifter: 13-52-066-918
also, stamped: basic 1B and in a circle stamped 89...

What do I have? Is it suitable behind a 351w with a 4barrel and torque cam?
He wants 100 bucks..
John

ok, well i figured it out haha

I'm a goof. Apparently, this tranny is under the Tag id program. All the other numbers are useless except the numbers off this tag which are
13-52-199 indicating it to be from a 1990 mustang 5.0.

Your 351w will provably make that trans go "explodie" in short order. You need at least a T5z for that motor IMO.

the 1990 T5 is rated at 300lbs torque, it really can't handle it?
I probably won't ever really hit the strip, but I'd like the option...

Geez, for $100 you would surely get your moneys worth out of it? Even if it breaks. ANd save up for a T5Z.

I saw that, but it didn't process in my head properly. You are absolutely right, for 100 bux... go for it.

Make sure to get the bell housing and block plate.

You can make it last . . . just don't go to the track and keep some street tires on it that won't hook up.

yeah it's only gonna be street. I got it from my friends 87 foxbody with an 89 302.
I have the bell housing and clutch from it as well. I basically took anything I wanted except the engine for 100bucks. So I'll be using the late model bell housing.

On another note, what's the story with having to shorten the drive shaft? I've heard both yes and no...

If you have a 2 piece drive shaft you will need a new drive shaft all together. I needed a new one in my 67.

Why do you need to buy a new slip yolk at all ? Take the one off of your friends drive shaft. Installing this yolk might shorten the drive shaft's overall length, however it may or may not be enough.
