crickets???

my clutch is making a wierd noise that sounds like a cricket. when i press down on the clutch the noise goes away. when my foot is off clutch its always there, and its loud!! Anyone have any idea what this could be, throw out bearing maybe?
thanks

Do you have an adjustable clutch cable??I tightened mine down to where there was no play in clutcH fork.It would cherp like hell when it would idle in nuetral. The self adjustable linkage is worn so there was play on end of cable good luk!!

the bearing should be sealed - not greasable. depends upon the manufacturer though. i personally would not want grease being flung around in there. a worn bearing retainer can also cause some noises.

but it sounds like the TOB and retainer should be looked at. many folks choose to dial in some preload to bandaid the problem.

good luck.

It's the TOB. You could bandaid the problem for now but it will not get any better and needs to be replaced. Also when you replace it check for wear on the bearing retainer for grooves or uneven wear and replace it if needed. They sell a replacement steel bearing retainer for around $50 that seems to last longer than the stock one.
