I have all new AC lines and hoses on my 65, since I converted to a Sanden compressor for 134A. Everything fits nicely except the suction hose ended up being way too long. So, I cut the end off to shorten it and now all the AC shops are telling me they can not install a new end with the line in the car. I do not intend on removing the evaporator unit again. Does anyone know of a place in central texas that can install a new end on the hose to the compresor with the hose in the car?

Remove the hose from the evaporator. The crimping machine is too large to pick up and plop into the engine compartment.

Thats what I thought. Thats not really what I wanted to hear. Everything is already in place. That means I have to remove the evaporator from the car and disconnect other hoses and wires.

I was hoping someone knew of another way to crimp the end on. I guess I may have to just take it all back out.

There's no chance you can crawl under there and remove just that hose?

Its possible, but there would be no way to get it back tight enough not to leak when reinstalling it. At least not that I know of.
