Just ordered my 347 stroker from Woody @ Ford Strokers.

This is the plan - hope someone will chime in and not turn this into a 331 vs 347 debate.. For my 1995 Rio Red Cobra - keep in mind this is a street car, looking for usable TQ/HP from 1500 - 6500 RPM.

--

347 stroker built by Ford Strokers, 10.5:1 compression, flat top pistons
AFR 185 heads, 58cc chambers, 2.02 intake valve, 1.60 exhaust valve, will upgrade to the larger springs
Edlebrock Performer II intake
1-5/8” long tube headers
Either 1.6 – 1.7 rockers, depending if I can use my stockers
30# injectors
90mm mass air meter
75mm throttle body
Walboro fuel pump
Ed Curtis cam - still waiting on the recommended specs

Pretty much mirrors my 331.... I looked & got prices from Woody too... cant go wrong as he has a great rep.

I'm sure youll be impressed... I have low comp pistons at 8.9 vs your 10.1 so she'll rip. Same deal with mine, just a nice street motor and I had Ed grind me something to those guide lines...mines got mucho low/mid hit...just as I asked.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

Sounds like a good plan. I wouldn't worry about the debate, most people here seem to prefer the 347 to the 331. I definately do. The 1.72 rockers are more efficient, theoretically, and since you're getting a custom cam, there is no reason not to go 1.72. Ed is going to grind the cam based on total lift, and you just need to let him know what ratio rocker you intend to run. The only other recommendation I have is to get 1 3/4 headers instead of 1 5/8". I'm running 1 5/8" and I think it's holding me back.

Good point on the larger headers...I was gonna opt for some but was tired of spending money...

My Opinion is the larger headers would be better as well

then again

Why listen to me when you have access to Woody and Ed :Word:

AFR 185 heads, 58cc chambers, 2.02 intake valve, 1.60 exhaust valve, will upgrade to the larger springs I would opt for the 'Competition 185's, from what the guys at AFR told me the exhaust is raised and it has the dual spread pattern for the headers, so you dont get the crimp where the header bolts are.

Edlebrock Performer II intake I would suggest either a Trickflow R or Vic 5.0, or at least a Holly. Again, your cam builder will know better than me, but the rpm range on the Performer II is 1500-6500, BUT thats on a 302, so a 347 will be more like 1300-5700rpm, if the displacement % difference stays constant in the rpm range.

1-5/8” long tube headers I would also suggest 1 3/4 LT's, 3" collector and a decent catback. Dont wanna choke the exhaust

Either 1.6 – 1.7 rockers, depending if I can use my stockers I would suggest a stud mount rocker, and just get whatever ratio your cam builder suggests

30# injectors I would suggest 36's or 42's, since its always better to have too big of an injector than too small.

90mm mass air meter Good, LMAF is a good cheap choice

75mm throttle body Good enough, 90mm may free up a couple hp, but maybe not

Walboro fuel pump A 255lph would prob be plenty.

I know everything I suggested is a little bigger and more expensive, but in the end you probably dont want to buy anything twice, and my opinion is do it once and do it right.
