OMG! It looks like whoever laid out these stripes used to have a job working for the highway department spraying the yellow lines....

Definitely a Biased Opinion, and spoken like a true Painter! Maybe I was misunderstood , But I said , "first, give the original Painter the chance to make it right!" I just stipulated that it should be done the way the Original job was AGREED upon, and that if the deal was to change, it should be up to Glenn Ford to decide..... and If the painter didn't want to FULFILL his contractual obligations, then Glenn should take it somewhere else, and then let the Courts decide! I agree that a Good painter could probably fix the stripes by only Re-painting the affected areas, However a Good Painter would have never let this kind of Job leave his shop in the first place..... Would You?

Its not a biased opinion. Its a fact. Its easy for someone like you that obviously has never done any bodywork to sit there and say oh he should do it like this or he should do it like that because other than the magazine articles you have read you don't have a clue what goes into this type of work. To your comment about spoken like a true painter. Well that is what I do for a living every day so I dont know how else I would speak on the matter. Keep reading your articles and how to books and leave the actual WORK to us professionals.

Well young man..... You sure voice a lot of Opinions based on Assumption, and Supposition! You haven't a Clue of What I've done, or Where I've been! Yes I've done body work! and Yes I painted my first car 40 years ago! If I was to guess, I'd have to bet blind on the fact that I may have painted a car or two before you were born? You really should be more thorough when reading peoples post's, because if you were to go back, and Re-Read mine, you would see that my point was from that of Ethics. I've redundantly said that the job should be completed the way it was AGREED UPON! Obviously you're the type of Painter that tells your Customers the way their gonna get it, and they have no say in the matter? ........Good Luck with that!

Here's some other stripes painted by Professionals.........

Couped ,i agree with you 1000 percent and when were you in my front yard? pic number one is what was in front of my house almost exactly.
seriously though a job must be done to the customers satisfaction or the shop will not continue ,and shouldnt , i was a painter up untill california did away with our
good paint ,i refuse to spray inferior materials on even my car trailer ,just so you know i am not slinging bs i painted the red 66 gt convert on the 94 ford brochure for the mustang. it belonged to a friend of mine the materials were somthing like $700 then and i believe i charged $2500 for the complete paint job i cant imagine handing out $15000 and not geting a show paint job that i would be proud to show off,it is now in a private meusium owned by a basket ball star, that could not have happend with shody paint work

I just purchased some parts from Mustang Madness Motorsports over the weekend and asked them about this car. The price was 14k plus tax and a few additional parts . The work done was all 4 front fender aprons, radiator support and crossmember, shock tower repair kit, frame floor supports and trans crossmember, one piece floor, both torque boxes , nos door skins, rear 1/4 panels, rear wheel wells, trunk floors , rear trunk support , tail light panel, rear valance and ft cowl cover . Stripped remaining parts to metal and repaired as needed. It seems he also did well over 250 hrs labor for free , filled and smoothed firewall and all of engine compartment , installed frame connectors , panhard bar crossmember, and installed engine, headers , clutch and trans, rear end , all front steering and suspension and all brakes. The engine compartment is painted like the outside, all basecoat clear coat in top of the line ppg products. He has asked the customer to bring back the car so he could correct the issues and the customer Glenn keeps making all sorts of demands, and hasent returned the car to the shop. I just thought people should hear the other side of the story.....seems like the guy got atleast a 40k job for 14k , seems like he should give the shop a chance to fix it instead of slamming them on a forum. Just my 2 cents

"The job should be completed the way it was agreed upon" That is correct and he wanted his car painted and stripes added. Is this what he got? Yes. Were the stripes crooked? Yes. Can the painter fix it? Yes. Does the whole freakin car need to be re-painted? No. That is the point I'm trying to make. All of my customers are involved in any job I do and I prefer to keep it that way to avoid confusion. I have one job I have been working on for a year and a half and the customer has come by every Mon,Wed, and Fri since the job began. My customers tell me the way they want it but when it comes down to the actual procedure of how I will do the bodywork or how I will apply the finish its my call. What I'm saying is let the guy fix the and move on.

Hmmm...... In business, it's common place to lose on some jobs. But your name is still attached to it, so you do the Best you can, and hope it pays off in future jobs! Some Businesses would consider this a Loss leader. So if what you say is true.... It sounds like MMM sold themselves short, and expect others to pay for their mistakes. I understand from a Collision Repair standpoint that a localized repair, and Blending would be acceptable.... But I think it fair to assume that Glenn was not under the pretense that he was paying for a Spot Repair!

Does not seem like a bad price for all that was done but wonder how the quality of the other work was. In any case, interesting thread to me since I'm having a 66 painted now that I'm having lemans stripes added. I would let them fix whatever way they think is appropriate - i've seen stuff blended that you can not tell at all. If still not to your satisfication - take to court.

people..........trunk lid comes off, ft valances come off, taillight panel can be masked off under the end caps..........no blend is needed, so its really not any kind of spot repair is it.........let the guy fix the car.......and from what I saw of cars at the shop the work is top notch !

So...... What about the hood, and the roof? Seems to me if he doesn't break the clear at an edge, then he'll end up with a Blend? Also Glenn mentions that this was a Custom mix color, so a Perfect match could be a problem..... and Here's a sample of their "Top-Notch" work that was sent home............ I'm still curious how they didn't catch this before they cleared?.........Just Sayin?

Clearly that amount of work and materials is worth more than 15K...however, none of that means anything if the final product isn't right. It's not Glenn's fault if the shop underquoted their work or did work for free. All of the free work in the world is worthless if the finished product sucks!

I believe this article is mandatory reading for anyone who will be having their car painted or worked on by a body shop:

http://www.autobody101.com/content/articles/confessions-of-a-body-shop-owner/

Paying weekly means customer gets car back faster and shop gets paid for actual work done, and is motivated to work on the car continuously. Everyone is happy

I dont see a problem with the roof or the hood....but the hood also comes right off . and if you read the post , custom color is bs he later states it is valancia a standard ford color, as is tuxcedo black , nothing special there. And you usually dont blend clear coat you go to the end of a panel ! Just saying the shop should get a chance to fix it before the guy gets slammed, and obviously alot of you people making comments have done numerous show car quality jobs and have never made a mistake . Fact on doing the work for free , I would think that shows the shop did work above and beyond and the guy Glenn should be appreciative of that and cut the place a little slack and BRING THE CAR BACK AND LET THE MAN FIX IT !!!!!!!
