Cruise Control not working

2001 GT Mustang

1.) The cruise control at first was having issues with the speed control not always disengaging when the brakes are applied.
2.) Then the green wire with the red strip melted off the brake light switch. I replaced the switch.
3.) From that point the cruise stopped working all together.
4.) The fuse is good.

I have no idea what to check next and completely frustrated with the lack of information online.
Please help

Confirm that the horn works.

Confirm that fuses F2.17, F2.33, and F2.35 are good.

Confirm that the 3rd brake light works.

If interested in getting a copy of the Ford service DVD with wiring diagrams, I maybe able to help. PM if interested.

The service manual will have a full set of pinpoint tests to trouble shoot the cruise control.
