Cup Holders.. Your solutions?

So whats everyone solution for the 94-97 cupholder problem? We can't sit any cup in there larger than a small drink from mc donalds.

I was looking at this: 1987-97 Mustang Plug And Chug Cup Holder, Black by Classic Consoles at LRS - Same Day Shipping!

but seem it would get in the way with a 5 speed.

Then i was thinking about the center part swap, but i bet its hard to find a white 98+ center to swap with

Slide the passenger seat back and sit the cup at the front of the e-brake handle between the console and seat, also works in a fox. It sucks but what are you gonna do?

i dont see it as a problem NO DRINKS ALLOWED in my car except my own and they need to be spill resistant and small

i did the 97-98 cupholder in an evening. it is actually one of my most favorite mods ever.

i'm on the go alot and eat in the car pretty regularly, mostly because of drive thru fast food. the 97 cupholder does everything i need it to do.

Years ago I installed a SpillMaster JR (NOT the EURO model, but the model with the flat side) to the side of the console just in front of the seat. It's adjustable and fits perfect right at where my knee bends and isn't in the way of anything. The only time I have to remove it is if I need to slide the seat up forward all the way. I'll get a pic tomorrow

Still using the factory one. Just bought a really good travel mug from Starbucks, that holds 16 oz, fits in the cupholder, and seals tight (so no sloshes out the drinky hole when making rapid lane changes!).

For the 97-98 swap, is it the entire console you have to change? I might want to do that one of these days, but not in a hurry now.

nope. it is just the cupholder piece. just cut the ashtray out (i used a dremel) and put the cupholder in its place. i used a soldering iron (to fuse the plastic from underneath) and some PC-7 to secure it in place.

I picked up a 03 center console to get the 2 cup holder found in the 01+ design. Had to paint it as ford stopped using black after 99 and moved to dark charcoal grey. Gained the leather e-brake boot as well.

BlackVert: Thanks for the link! I have an 02 console to go in my 67; I knew it wouldn't be a straight swap for those cupholders into my 95. Didn't realize the 97-98 were different.

I have an 03 console waiting to be painted grey so I can put it in. I prefer this set up over the 98-01 model because the 02-04 consoles move the cup holders back away from the shifter. They are all over ebay and at times you can find good condition 03-04 complete center consoles for $200 shipped (leather e-boot, leather shifter boot).

Found my solution. Its only going to be seen when my GF is in the car. Otherwise, i dont drink really when driving the stang.
Wedges right between her seat in the big gap.

My mind moves faster then my fingers, the $200 shipped is for a cobra center consoles. I bought my gt one for $100 shipped (need e brake/shifter boots).

What is different with the cobra console? If its just the leather shift boot/bezel for $100 they can keep it LOL. Mine had the leather e-brake boot as its attached...thought it was an item found on all 01+ v6, GT, or Cobra?

Yup leather e-boot and leather shifter boot, gt/v6 received vinyl. I'll buy my leather from redline goods for about the same price as buying the cobra stuff except redline uses soft Italian leather (love fine leather).

whats a matter with between your legs?

I'll only buy bottles with caps on them. then i just toss them behind the seatbelt latch between me and the center console. keeps it surrounded and it doesn't go anywhere.
