so i'm finally making a CAI and have the following:
-3" 90* coupler
-3" pvc pipe (about 2ft of it)
-3" coupler

electronics include: stock MAF, explorer throttle body (modified to fit my car), k&n conical filter

my two biggest concerns:

1. getting a fitting, or finding a way, that i can connect the [valve cover breather tube] to the cai.

2. getting the [ACT] sensor in there between the MAF and TB.

how are you guys accomplishing this? pics? tried searching but came up w/ boggus results.

found that, but it doesn't really say how they hold the little tube for the ventilation hose. looks like a grommet, though? wonder how they get it to stay in the hole, and if they sealed it so it wouldn't leak.

yes sir, i think it is a Fernco. thinking i can just mold it in there somehow? what would be the best way to seal around both the ACT sensor and the bung for the valve cover vent hose?

Here is how I did it for both the act and small hose fitting

I made holes in the coupler about 60 to 75% smaller than the device

I pushed in the device by a small amount to get it started and screwed
it in the rest of the way or to the depth needed

For the hose to the oil fill tube

I used one of those 90 degree plastic fittings you can find at your
local auto parts house

Very simple ... but ... Quite effective

ah, ok, so you just made the hole smaller and shoved both the ACT and fitting for the valve cover vent hose in? no silicon or anything?

thanks for the replies, man--i realize this topic is very cliche, but i honestly did try to search.

forgot to ask: Grady, do you have one of the 2" to 3" couplers for the TB>PVC?

The hole is small enough the devices are a bit of work to thread in

NO size changes ... NO bends ... ALL parts are 3"

Simply put ... a section of 3" pipe with a coupler on each end

One end is the ProM shorty 80mm meter/filter
and
The other end is my tb

Here is a pic or two

yup, finished it today. i have to get a new filter, though--my K&N doesn't have enough material to clamp on to. it came loose on my way home tonight and really freaked me out--complete loss of power!

gonna get that taken care of tomorrow--glad Advance is right across the street!
