cuttin springs on an 85

leave just one coil on it... thats the best way to do it

and cut the rear springs a lot more than the front ones so it has that squat look to it... super cool

in my opinion is isnt good to cut springs at all... they were designed to work a certain way and even if you install them with the incorrect rotation they wont sit right... not to mention if theyre 20 years old they're probably fatigued anyway

i would advise your friend to pick up at least some OE springs or some aftermarket lowering springs to get the best performance/appearance

One word - Don't.

Cutting springs ruins them. The springs are made with formed ends that match the spring isolators & provide an even seating for the spring to its mount. Once a spring is cut, it will never seat correctly.

Not only that, but it messes up the rate at which the spring extends & compresses. The extension & compression rates are engineered into the suspension to keep the car on the road, going in the direction you point it.
