ok i was thinkin about cutting the fake scoop out. i have a 2000 gt and i dont have the upper scoop. so i was wondering if i cut the fake scoop out and just had the hole, would it hurt the motor when it rained? would the rain effect the coils or anything else at all? i figured if i got the extra air in there it would either give me more airflow or just help cool the motor down. thx for all the help.

Ive actully seen one around here in town before just like that and I didnt like it at all,It just seemed as if something was missing from the car.Really I dont think you would benifit much if any at all with a hole there,I dont see it cooler the motor enough for any good.I guess if it did rain enough and finally worked itself into some electrics that also could cause some issues...but i could be wrong about it all too.....

It's been done before.

All it does is dump rain and dirt on top of your engine. One guy did this and had to replace his COP's and spark plugs because they actually rusted up

spark plug wells are water traps. Seen way too many water intrusion problems to try to cut a hole and invite rainwater in.

Get a SunCoast ram air hood with the appropriate ram air ducting to keep water out. THAT will at least net you some increased performance while on the highway (that's when you'll see the most differences from RAM air).

I opened mine up and saw a 5 to 10* drop in iats. but I have a KB and the air blows directly on the blower inlet. It also is cooler under the hood (KB's run hot). I don't drive it in the rain, but I keep a piece of foam in trunk in case i get caught in the rain.

Other than in my case the only benifit I see is in looks, getting rid of that cheesy honeycomb is almost worth it alone
