I just picked up a Tremec 3550 trans with a pro 5.0 shifter 2 months ago. When driving normally, it shifts fine...a little choppy...but otherwise fine. At the track, or hard on the street, when shifting from 3rd to 4th at high rpms, it won't go into 4th gear. I thought it was the tranny because it was used...so I had it rebuilt. It still does the same thing.

I heard of a trick to cut every other tooth from the syncronizer. It seems to me that if you are on and off the gas in that gear then it could pop out of gear because of the missing teeth. Has anyone ever tried this resolution? I know a few people said that they've heard of it, but I need to know if anyone has actually ever done it, and if so is it a good resolution to the problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

tremacs are strong tranny's but they do not like to shift from 1-2 3-4 at high RPMs. You could do that witch is what this guy in florida does but i wouldnt do it yourself. The pro 5.0 guys in the NMRA do this same thing to there t5's and the tremacs. If your intrested in this guy in florida his number is 1 800 771 6843 or 954 607 1967 the company is called promotion perfermance.to ship my tremac from washington state to florida to him it was like $1500 i beleive? peace

That is one of the little quirks of a 3550. They don't like high RPM's. What are you shifting at anyway? How high we talking?
