I just picked up a Tremec 3550 trans with a pro 5.0 shifter 2 months ago. When driving normally, it shifts fine...a little choppy...but otherwise fine. At the track, or hard on the street, when shifting from 3rd to 4th at high rpms, it won't go into 4th gear. I thought it was the tranny because it was used...so I had it rebuilt. It still does the same thing.
I heard of a trick to cut every other tooth from the syncronizer. It seems to me that if you are on and off the gas in that gear then it could pop out of gear because of the missing teeth. Has anyone ever tried this resolution? I know a few people said that they've heard of it, but I need to know if anyone has actually ever done it, and if so is it a good resolution to the problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
