Resolved Does anybody recognise this distributor gear?

That looks like a Cardone distributor, I purchased a Motorcraft rebuilt one and it looks just like that one. I questioned what type material the gear was made of and they couldn't answer my question. So, I gave it back to them. It might be melonized which is supposed to be good for roller, or flat tappet. I wasn't willing to take the chance, plus the shaft had twice the movement of my old distributor.

That gear looks like an IRON gear, not a STEEL machined gear..
Steel is needed for a roller cam... The upper area looks cast. A Steel gear would be smooth in that area...

I wasn't happy with the focus on my camera ,but here are two shots of my NEW DUI distributor gear...
Its supposed to be for a roller cam.....
See how smooth the upper area on the gear is...
