Ugh. I thought I myight have blown the head gasket cuz I brought it back from limping on 7 cylinders. I am about to lift the head off, cut I have a couple questions:

1. I did a comp check on cyl 5 and it was at like 185pst, but when I pushed the release, water came out. So I did this about 5 times, and now it's down to about 160 like all the other cylinders. If it was a head gasket, would it leakdown fast? I left it for over 10 mintutes and it was still on the same reading.

2. Could it be the intake gasket? I changed it once but did not fix the problem.

WWYD? A little water in the oil and cyl 5.

Head Gasket or cracked water jacket. If water fills the cylinder ther eis a good chance it bend the piston rod too. I would pull the head and take a close look at the gasket.

damn, brand new motor too. Ran strong through the 1st 2 miles. I hope it's the head for an excuse to buy better flowing ones.

How do I test to see if it's a water jacket?

Visually inspect the gasket and head and maybe consider a shop to get the head magnafluxed or dye tested. Problem could also be on the block side, so be sure to look closely there too. Might as well look carefully over the intake mating surfaces for fun, too.

Hope you find the cause!

Most auto parts places sell a pressure tester for radiator/hose leaks. It normally attaches to the radiator. Fill the radiator, pump it up to about 13psi or so and leave it there for awhile. If it looses presure and it's not running out on the ground then you know it's going somewhere in the block. Pull your #5 plug out and rotate it by hand and see if anything comes out. Look for coolant in the pan too. Cracks in engine blocks are sometimes hard to see. I hate to say it but the best way is to magnaflux it.

I like what TomCat had to say, pull the head(s) and inspect the gasket itself but at the same time for peace of mind have the head tested and fluxed at a good shop, explain what is going on, if the heads come back fine then you need to look at the block. The intake gasket I would say most of the time presents externally but I don't think it would show up in 1 cylinder if it was it. good luck man.
