Please someone correct me if I’m wrong here…. When using the simple one gage bleed down test. You take the little one-way valve (Schrader???) out of the hoes connected to the gage… screw the hose it into the spark plug hole then connect the gage to the hose… after all of that… “by hand” bring the piston up to TDC on compression, mark the gage and start timing…. Right????

If I’m doing all that right…. Then I must have some major issues bigger than my over heating problem going on inside my motor…. Has anyone heard of an motor running w/ the rings upside down???

Sorry... forgot to add that the cylinders don't hold any PSI during leak down test, and it builds up alot of crancase pressure.... but it runs???

See http://bellsouthpwp.net/l/r/lrichke...ession_tester/Blow_down_comprssion_tester.htm to build a real aircraft style blow down compression tester. Use the design in the link and you will get accurate results every time.

Be sure to do all testing with a warm engine. Each cylinder has to be at TDC to make sure the rings are properly seated in the bore and against the piston ring lands.
