Anybody have this problem? Good thing I live near by. Now I have to un-install the X pipe and put it in my truck and drive it back to Magnaflow HQ. My Bassani X pipe that I sold to Goldmember fit much better. Now I feel dumb for making a trade like that...and it cost me so much money....DAMN!! :nonono:

how isint it fitting?

i had a mac x-pipe once that didnt fit. it lined up like ****, then when i finally got it on there it hung really low and drug on the ground almost.

Where the collectors connect to the headers is much too narrow. Id say it is about the total of an inch too close together. The pipes at the front end of the X need to be moved outward.

Hello,
Does the X-pipe have a brace welding down close to the X. If so that is probaly keeping the pipes from moving further apart. Same problem I had with a bbk header to Bassani X-pipe. Had Mac headers to Bassani X-pipe everything o.k. Weird.

No, it has a smog tube welded in the middle like the stock H pipe does. Judging by the responses it sounds like I have to take this thing back. :notnice:

My friend and I had the same problem and put a good size dent in his collector. You are probably going to have to get another person to help "stretch" the pipes apart while the one of you tighten down on it carefully if you don't want to bring it back. Since you live so close you migh as well but it's still a pain. Another problem that we ran into was that his muffler pipes ended up being too short and didn't fit well which might be a ploy to get you to buy the rest of their exhaust system too... could also be my friends crummy exhaust from the previous owner too.

Nope same problem ... Had to stretch the pipes apart with a pry bar. Got it bolted to the collectors and then it hung so low it dragged on everything. Then had to take it off and reweld the hangers to bring it up. The cat back exhaust I had on previously ended up looking like *hit b/c it appears the passenger side of the x is shorter and the driver side longer than any other brand. As a result, my driver side tail pipe hung about 3 inches below my ground effects and the passeneger side was about 2 inches above the ground effects. Good luck Rydeon. If I were you I would get rid of the thing. I will never buy magnaflow again.

mine fit with no issues on my lx with fms headers and jba equal length. now its on my cobra with stock headers. previous owner had flowmaster with stock flow tubes, and the flow tubes didn't reach. not an issue b/c i put new flow tubes when i changed mufflers. the collector is a little hard to get by yourself, but I put it on in about 15 minutes(no bs). hopefully i'll have no issues when I put on bassani headers.

Ryde on im very sorry to hear that you have trouble with your magnaflow. Best thing in my opinion is to take it back and get another one but to measure them to make sure you have right fit. another thing you can try is to get aftermarket shorties. i think you told me that you had the stock headers. it can make a difference because when i bought my macs i measured them and they had some differences. i have mac shorties and well as you see ive never had a problem fitting my pipes from my stock to my catted bbk to my o/r bassani. good luck and by the way, i love the way my bassani sounds - like no other mustang...sweeeeet! keep us posted.

UPDATE

Talked to a Danny at Magnaflow who is the Mustang technician. Told him my problem and he told me this: "not to insult your mechanical ability or anything, but you need to take this into a shop and have it done". He told me that the X pipe must be forced onto the header flanges, then tightned down . Even if this did work, which it wont, he is basically telling me that a $530 part must be forced onto my Cobra leaving enourmous amounts of stress on my headers and block. I kept telling him that I know what Im doing and Bassani fits great, so why not theirs. He kept telling me that this is the way they are. So the way they are made is wrong, all for $530. F-that. Then he told me to reinstall it and take pictures of it not lining up. I may or may not do this. Now I have to reinstall a part that doesnt fit again, for the sake of proving them that they made it wrong. Now I will call back Magnaflow and talk to them about getting my money back. I dont even want to screw with this thing anymore.

Me too. :notnice: I had to jack the whole car up in the air from the center of the x-pipe to get it to bend up. :nonono:

A lot of my friends were buying VRS X-Pipes and having great success so I switched and it fit perfect! :nice: Can't touch the price either $220 for Stainless. :D

rydeon-I paid $400 for mine at a shop and they installed it when they did my 5 speed conversion. I put it on my cobra myself. put some lube on the exhaust hanger on the tranny and the x pipe so it will go in all the way. i swear it only took me about 15 minutes to install it.

Look guys. Tell me Im not crazy. That is an inch difference! My Bassani was not even a little off, it was EXACT! If it goes on my car it will go on perfect, or it will be stock, especially for this money. A big company like Magnaflow not making the part to spec, is not acceptable.

You are not crazy. That's way off. Send them that pic and maybe one of it hanging from one header and not lining up to the other.

My Magnaflow catback was 99% too. One of the extension tubes is not quite right. I got it to work, but I don't like the way it is very much. next time I'm going back to MAC. There stuff has always worked for me in the past with no problems I didn't create myself.

Rydeon - GET RID OF THAT THING!!! Once you get it to fit on your headers, your damn tailpipes won't line up right. Same thing happened on mine. If you do a Magnaflow X then you have to do a new cat back as well, or else, be able to pull the driver side flow tube out and push the passeneger side flow tube in. Also, be prepared to reweld the hangers on the X so it doesn't drag on the ground. Trust me .. GET RID OF IT!!
