damn security keyed lug nuts

does anyone one know how to get these off?? I bought my car in december and didnt get the socket for them and just now found out they had them on the wheels. im guessing you cant just buy the socket, right? cause that would defeat the purpose of having them. I was gonna call americas tire co and see if they had anything that they could use to take them off but they are closed. Any ides?? thanks

If they are the Ford locks, many of the dealers have a master set of keys that can be used to remove them. A local friend at our dealership has removed them for many of our club members, myself included. Most of the tire places can remove them also, or you can just find a socket about the right size and hammer it on if they are the old style. I did that for mine the first time I lost the key. Then I got a replacement socket at Sears.

What I used was.... I believe it was a 5/8 socket, can't really remember; anyhow used some tack sealant inside the socket. Used a socket extension, tapping the end of it onto the keyed lugnut using a hammer. Allowed the tack sealant to dry and removed them.

That is if you can't wait to go to the nearest tire store. They will be able to remove them for you.

use a hammer and wood splitter chizzel. Using the splitter and a hammer cut a groove in it like a flate head screw driver. Then while tapping on the the chizzel with the hammer unscrew at the same time... i did this last week when a shop ripped up my mom lug locks with an impact wrench. hope this helps.

At the shop I work at, we just use a 12 point craftsman socket, beat it on and take it off. Once off, hit the socket on the side with a hammer, and the lug will pop out. If you break the socket, oh well it's a Craftsman.

dont be a ***** j/k and just weld on a regular lug nut and take them off then go get a new set and ur good to go
