Well the other day, while stripping my 86 down for primer, I found a rust patch under the 1/4 panel by the 1/4 window, well it ends up being a big hole when Im done, all was filled with bondo by the previous owner ( thanks ******* :nice: )
anyway I found out that it would cost more than this notch Ive been hearing about, so Im thinking, I could part out my 86gt and buy a notch, and swap all my 5 lug crap and engine and trans rear and ds and all that crap in thur and have a nice(er) and faster car, its just that i like this 86, but Its either bout 6 hundred for a fix or 400 for this body and a couple weeks and bam I have a 5.0 notch. either way im broke for a while (friday) so cost IS an issue!! so what would the 5.0 community do out there?

go for it man.. if you want some help from some fairly experienced body guys (mostly my pops but i'm learned quite a bit) your welcome to bring her to charleston and we'll help ya out. go cut you a quarter piece off a donor hatch car..

ite, I just listed my bullitt wheels to go to "the poor looser with no money fund". To get some money together for some dr's and some metal and the "fix" well its only a little spot and my neighbor just said it could be fixed easily and nobody would know it happened, basically put a patch panel in its place and grind smooth. My dad has a friend he's gonna get to hook me up, then I got to do the floorpans and a rot hole below the pass side door hinge, the pans and the hole might only take a couple hours, but its this that worries me!!

a bad quarter doesnt ruin a car..

rusted to pieces frame rails, cracked shattered and beat on torque boxes.. those kind of things can ruin a car

first off it is an easy fix. but ya don't have to use any bondo at all... i hate that ****. clean out the spot of all bondo...get some por15 rust eater stuff... and make sure it is really clean. they make this stuff called all metal. use that to fix it.

rusted frames and torque boxes are not all that. we have replaced many..all ya gotta do is fab it. its easy if ya have the equipment. we do it all the time when we restore the old stangs

how hard do you think it could be? i know welding will be on the order, I weld so thats not a problem, im just not a body guy, and I have to have a straight body!!!

You wont even have to weld, get some structural adhesive and glue in the patch panel. much easier and no warping from weld heat. Go to any body supply store for the glue and gun, or ebay stores sell them too I would recommend the Lord's fusor 109.
