Don't worry, she'll let you know if you have too much or too little. 
Try a little more advance at a time until you get detonation, then back off. That usually gets the performance and mileage optimized; usually hurts emissions which are likely not an issue there in R-Kansas.

I dont' know if I have actually ever heard detonation...?...I've heard the descriptions of it but don't know if I could pinpoint it safely...

Like marbles rattling around in a can - usually at when you open the throttle up a bit a mid or higher rpm.

I read this somewhere: Can you get it on in the upper rpm (maybe around 5k for example) under load at WOT and shut off the car (at that rpm
)and pull a plug to see if it is lean...? After coasting to a stop? Would that be good to shut it off after being revved...doesn't sound good but was suggested on here as a quick way to find out if I'm running lean (possible timing)...Wouldn't the heat in the combustion chamber ruin that reading on the spark plug or would it "stick"?
