Good Body Every Morning. I would like to say hi and introduce myself. I just signed up today and would like to jump right to it, so here it goes...

I have a 66 Fastback that I will be running road courses with in a series called "American Iron" with N.A.S.A. (National Auto Sports Assoc.) . I want to cut my dash out to save weight, and also so I can put in a simple aluminum dash so I can mount some autometers. My question is, if I cut my dash out, will it weaken the cockpit (structure) of the car? I have a full cage in it now. Would I need to weld in support bars to the walls of the door pillars?

Proably not a bad idea to tie it all together with some supports anyway. Your already going to have the dash out of your way and have easy acces to weld in some support. Your dash does not way much of anything, once you get it out you will proably wonder if it was worth it to save that small amount of wieght. Why not just trim the stock dash down ??
