Hey, I'm not knocking 'em!!! I'm all for it!! I'm just making the point that if you're going to be a magazine racing jockey, you need to know the context and perspective of the data you're obsessing over.

I agree. Sometimes they don't make that evident in their articles. But seriously, having owned 2 mustangs already myself and hopefully a 3rd soon (05 GT ) I powershift at the track when I can't get a higher ET. You do what it takes to see what limits your car has. Their are a lot of people around where I live that buy mustangs cobras or GT's and then they baby them like some old lady. That's not what these cars are made for. They are muscle cars, hence MM&FF try to get all the "muscle" they can out of them. Didn't they get a stock 2003 cobra through the 1/4 in something like 12.25? No one else even comes close to that. Yes it was with powershifting, but if you are racing some loudmouth running his 350z ricer burner, then you don't just want to barely win, you want to embarass him. Haven't you driven your car crazy or powershifted?

Absolutely!!! I'm no slouch at getting the most out of my cars. I had a fully-loaded '88 GT convertible (heavy) that bone-stock (prior to modifying, I modify everything I own) I was running 14.80's. A '93 6-speed Corvette that I ran consistant 13.30's in bone-stock (new, hadn't even changed the oil), I got easy 13.80's out of my '96 Cobra when it was brand new and stock..... When you see me shifting down the track, you'd swear it's an automatic Yes, yes, I'm boasting and bragging
