Ok guys, I have made my first decision on my project car :D.
The car is a '90 LX 5.0 Hatch Auto thats basically stock except for a CAI, pulley's and Flowmasters.
After talking to my shop and letting them know what I want out of the car, here is a general idea of whats going down.
The goal is a 100% streetable 450-500hp car.
Step 1. Auto is coming out and a TKO 5 speed is going in, new pedal assembly, Spec Stage II or a Stage III clutch, Flywheel TBD, and a Steeda Adjustable Clutch quad with cable. Also L/T's, and a mid pipe will go on at this time.
Step 2. Build up the rear end. FRPP 3.73's, 28 Spline axles, and a locking diff.
Step 3. Start building a race prep 5.0 block. Havent gotten specifics yet, but it will be stroked to a 331 :D. Systemax Stage II head, Systemax or a Cobra Intake if I can find one, and a cam with a s/c grind.
Step 4. Vortech s/c
The idea is for it to be street legal so I can enjoy it, and it be able to go on trips to the track, beach, show, whatever I want to.

My question to you guys is this... I know this is a very general list, but does it sound like a good start so far. This is a ton of $$$ going into this, but the car was my first Stang. It was good to me for 6 years, I garaged it after I bought my '03, and now I want to get it to where I have always wanted it :nice:
What exhaust set up would you guys recommend? I was thinking of MAC or BBK L/T's, BBK catted Mid, and keep my Flows. I went to Mustangexhaust.com but they didnt have as many combos as I hoped they would. If any of you guys have clips I would love to hear them. I want a very deep throaty rumble at idle, and for it to roar when I hit it.
Thanks guys, let me know what you think, I know the 4.6 guys are very vocal lol I hope you guys will be as well

Have you ever though of doing a n/a stroked 351? Can make the hp you're looking for w/out the s/c tuning. Just a thought, I have nothing against blower setups, just didnt want the hassles. My #'s in sig, out of box parts, roller cam, pump gas.

Now to adress you're first questions, are you looking for that hp at the wheels or flywheel? If rwhp go with an aftermarket block such as an "R" block or dart block (dart is nicer). I would go with the 1 3/4 bbk long tubes, do you need cats? Also would go 3 inch the whole way, mac makes a decent 3 inch cat back. Good luck.

Sounds to me like you're thinking reasonably about it. If you really want that amount of HP and streetability, boost is a great way to get there. Keep the chassis/structural, suspension and especially BRAKES in mind -- with that much juice, you're gonna want the rest of the car to stand up to it.
