Deleting A/C and P/C, belt routing/pulley ???

I'm going to do both at the same time. A/C is R12 and low on charge and it's not a daily driver, don't use it anyways, and I have a Flaming River manual rack. I don't have the funds for an electric W/P yet so I'm going to run the stock W/P for now. Doesn't March sell a kit the moves the tensioner to where the A/C sits or is it someone else?

Well I got that much. What I am talking about is deleting both the A/C and P/S. I saw a pulley kit, one with an idler where the A/C sits, another that moves the tensioner over to where the A/C sits.

Last car I reversed the tensioner which worked but the belt barely contacted 1/4th of the already smooth waterpump pulley and it used to squeel and slip all the time. More of the w/p pulley needs to be contacted.

I'll eventually start running an electric w/p so I'll get a different alternator bracket that basically moves the alternator where the stock smog pump sits, but for now I want to just delete those things.

Ok, edit, March 1460, couldn't find it the first few times. Third time a charm. Only $45

Oh, I gotcha, I don't know why I assumed you were confused on the belt routing. (Maybe b/c your thread title says belt routing.) Sorry about that. A ton of guys on here have done this delete so I'm sure they'll chime in soon. I'd call summit or March and see what they have. FWIW I know p/n MCH-1465 will delete the stock cast smog/alt bracket and stock tensioner and use the turnbuckle as a tensioner. It keeps the alt in the passenger side position, though. Wish I could be more help.

I saw a pic on another site where someone had somehow flipped their tensioner over and was still able to use the stock water pump when deleting the A/C and power steering pump. I'll see if I can dig that one up somewhere. I think there was a link to a how-to article somewhere, as well...

Other than the tensioner-flipping method, the only two other ways I've seen it done involved buying a fancy bracket for the alternator that makes the alternator sort of a tensioner pulley, and just getting one of those ugly A/C delete pulley kits from someplace like UPR or whatever (I have one and I frickin' HATE the thing because the bearing failed on it in less than a year and it always made a weird whistling noise).

Well damn.

Used a 43.3" belt and reversed the tensioner. Belt squeels a lot, not getting enough tension and/or the waterpump pulley is just does not have enough belt on the pulley, as it only covers about 1/4 of the pulley if that, on the smooth side.

I want to run an electric waterpump but can't afford it right now. Then I'll just move the alternator down.

Anyways, I guess I'll have to get the March 1460 kit that moves the tensioner over to where the AC used to me.

Jegs or Summit or any performance parts supplier will have one. It is just difficult getting someone to understand that "standard" doesn't mean "stock," because a stock one is actually "reverse" rotation. You want a standard one, which is actually the opposite of stock rotation (a reverse one), when in reality the reverse rotation is stock, get it? Confusing, but it makes for fun arguments with morons in parts stores.

Go to autozone or something and get a water pump for a 85(i believe) crown vic. Thats what I used on mine and it seems to be fine.

Cool, that is what I was looking for. I don't want a "performance" one, just a cheapo stock replacement until I get the funds for an electric one. I know you can get the proform electric w/p pretty cheap but I have heard the horror stories about cheapo electric w/p's. Might not know it isn't working until it's too late as with no flow the sensor will not fast enough. Miezere (sp) is probally the one I'll get but they are near $300 for the basic one.

Make that near $400 for the electric W/P.

Saw the 85 crown vic 5.0 w/p for about $43, not too shabby.

I dont have good pic of myne,but what i did was just use all the stock stuff and the tensioner isnt reversed, to get the belt on i loosen the tensioner enough so that the dowel releases and put the belt on then use a wrench on the tensioner pulley to get the belt on and tighten the top bolt back up.

This isnt the ideal way to do it like just getting a standard WP, but its worked for me for the last 2 summers, the belt squeals on a cold start, but other than that it makes no noise. I could find out the belt size if you dont feel like changing the water pump

Ordered a 1984 Crown Vic 5.0 waterpump. $35. I brought my other waterpump in so that I can check to see what I'm going to have to do to make it work. This will work out sweet!

Nope, an '84 Crown Vic 5.0/302 waterpump won't work. The impeller length is different, the bolt holes are different to bolt on the pulley, other things look different, and it's an iron waterpump, that thing weighted about three times what the stocker weighted.

Might just have to bolt on the March kit or find some kind of other solution.
