Not to steal your thread, but here's some food for thought... My buddy was driving his 88 GT home from school one day and it started making this odd exhaust leak sound. So he thought. Turns out the oil pump drive shaft had twisted and snapped off. Drove it about 10 miles home and then ran it a few different times trying to figure out what was wrong before he found it. It had about 110K on it then. Now it has over 135K on it, 9 years later. I wouldn't reccomend anyone try a stunt like running it without oil, but if the pump isn't spinning and it didn't do any damage, .5 or 1 quart low won't kill the average 5.0
