On my last shortblock with 10.5:1 compression I ran around 27 degrees of timing. I had my new shortblock installed in June and it was tuned at 26 degrees. I then started having problems with it pinging once it came up to full temp. I figured the heat of the summer was the problem and bought a fluidyne radiator but still had the problems. I then had my car retuned at 23-24 timing. Still no luck!

Once the car comes up to full temp, it will detonate. I also have a tune at 20 degrees of timing and it detones just the same. At 23-24 with a 12.8 air/fuel my car made decent power, 325+ with the moderate timing.

I have spent quite a bit of cash and have no idea what could be causing this. Is there anything I could check to solve this? I'm getting more and more aggrevated with the problem.

You should probably do some datalogging and see what your actual timing ends up being, then go from there.

May be a stupid question, but you made no mention of it......you are running high test fuel, are you not?

Well its running great now. I made a trip to the shop this morning to have it closely looked at. When I got there he told me he wanted to try something first....swapping my TR6s for some TR8 iridium plugs($$$). I drove it around for a while and it ran great, and was even able to bump my timing up to 25. Now I just need to get rid of this 90mm lmaf I no longer need. Thanks everyone for you suggestions and input.
