I've never ran an msd box on a ford. When I ran one on my old Chevy stuff I never had a problem. But that was a long time ago(relatively speaking). I'd keep a stock distributor and coil on a basic blower setup from what I've seen. Not counting a btm I think the factory ignition is more than capable.

25 years ago I ran an MSD6AL with BTM ( the old box with the pills). That was before I had Chris Johnson make a chip for me. It was night and day difference. Can't imagine why anyone these days would rely on a manual dial to pull timing when you can have the computer do it for you more accurately than guessing how much to turn the dial.
