So I unfortunately missed the note back in the day last year when I first got my car that SCT tuners and the tunes you get from the guys like Brenspeed were better for automatics. I bought my kit from RPM (NEVER BUY FROM THEM!) and it came with a Diablo tuner. The improvements were noticeable for sure but I always felt the tranny improvments weren't good enough, especially after hearing from others with SCT's and auto's.

Well I managed to sell off my Diablo tuner for a couple hundred and I called up Brenspeed and put in an order. I have to say outside of a little order mix up dealing with them was good, a few follow ups and my tuner was on it's way.

I finally got the tuner today after a LOOOOOONGGGGG week long wait for UPS to deliver it and I got it put on today. I just loaded up the 87 octane tune as that's what I've had in there over the last month and wow, not a difference in power from the Diablo but the improvements in shifting are great. In general traffic and normal driving it feels good, throttle response is clean but man, jam on the gas pedal and snap snap snap the gear changes just fire right off and aren't jerky either.

I was worried it would be too harsh for shifting up and down but it's great, no complaints at all. I can't wait to try out a higher octane tune when I run down this last quarter tank.

So if you're thinking of getting a tuner and have an automatic (or a standard really) get the SCT tuner and I can recommend Brenspeed quite heartily. In fact if you have a diablo and an automatic, I'd say the improvements in shifting (especially if you have a C&L or Steeda preconfiged kit) is worth changing up to the SCT.

well i was going to post this in a seperate thread. I have just put the sct tune into my auto and i asked about firming shift points. i was told to raise every shift by 5% to tighten up after i changed to a 373. Now when i get onto it right around the 55 mph it hard shifts. has anyone else found this and if so is there a solution.

I agree my tuner and experience with Brenspeed was excellent! I also dealt with RPM Outlet when I ordered my BBK Throttlebody and the experience was awful. When I ordered from RPM they didn't tell my the throttlebody was on back order and when I called they constantly gave me the run around. Definitely stick with Brenspeed!

Did you ever try a tune from brenspeed with your diablo? I currently have a diablo with bama tune & love it:lol: , but everyone says the sct is better. If I thought I could gain I would change. Any input appreciated

I was told I couldn't because I had the C&L branded tuner and you can only use their tunes without having the tuner redone at a diablo dealer. So maybe I could have mailed it off but I didn't want the hassle. Internet tunes is the way to go for me. If you have a regular Diablo tuner that isn't a branded one then yeah I imagine you could go that route and have some good success.

And for those asking about RPM above...

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT SHOP AT RPM OUTLET YOU WILL REGRET IT NO MATTER THE SAVINGS YOU WILL PAY IN THE END!!! I went there because the kit was nearly $100 less, in the end because of their errors and unwillingness to correct them I spent more than $100 in cash and hours out of my life I won't get back. I had the same experience as was mentioned above about the BBK TB. They simply drop ship from manufacturers to the customer that ordered the product. So when they can't get it in they sandbag and give you the run around. In my case they shipped the wrong thing then I ended up getting hosed for shipping as they refused to refund it, then they actually call blocked my phone number! I am sure I have a post on here detailing most of it. Just do a search on RPM outlet and save yourself the pain and hassle.

I have the rpm outlet c&l diablo & doug @ bama sent me tunes. I think someone misled you, but good luck on the sct.

A little late now I guess. This was from Diablo directly that I was told this. Why they would tell me this I don't know and I'm a bit disappointed by it, but hey if you're willing to let your customer go elsewhere then chances are I won't ever deal with them again and SCT's sales will start going up.

Ah well, the SCT is doing the trick.

I also went from the Diablo C&L unit to a SCT tuner and tunes for the auto from Brenspeed....... huge differenace. Suppose I could have just got new tunes from Bama but had heard good things about Brent's auto tunes, so I elected to buy the tuner with his tunes. Couldn't be happier with the shifts only is firm when I ask for it. So far I'm a happy Brenspeed customer, :nice:

BTW- For Sale Diablo tuner with 3 tunes including C&L racer kit tune. PM if interested.

Yeah as Bullit pointed out, while being disappointed I was told by Diablo I couldn't get tunes without going to a diablo dealer to get the unit redone somehow I had heard a lot of good stuff from auto owners about Brenspeed's tunes and the SCT so it made switching over a little more enticing. Snow finally left again so I'll be driving it again tomorrow. Snow is being a real PITA this year.

A quick update on this, I've been driving my car with the SCT applies Brenspeed 87 octane tune for the last week and wow, just wow! I have just topped up with 91 so I switched the tune over but traffic didn't let me really get on it but there does seem a bit more urgency when I did dig in a bit in the parking lot leaving the gas station, the extra timing is likely to thank there.

There is a night and day difference over the C&L/Diablo tunes I was using before, the car runs harder and the shifting is great, it really is quite noticeable!

Cast off the shackles of the boxed Steeda and C&L tunes and get a SCT with a Brenspeed or Bama tune or at least a new tune for your Diablo from Bama, it's silly just how much better they are!

Thanks muchly Brenspeed!
