Diablo Tune

you dont need a dyno tune,Your local cmr-dealer or dyno tuner can reflash your chip with out using the dyno to your paper specs..

Thanks The reason I asked because the shop I'm thinking about haveing it tuned by is trying to get me to dyno it and that's another $150.

Look at it this way... You can send your suit in to get it tailored. Just tell them you gained 50 lbs and 2 inches taller. They can adjust the suit pretty good. Or, you can go to the tailor and have him measure you and adjust the suit based on that.

The first option is cheaper and pretty good if you go with a reputable tuner. They've been doing this for years and can hit it pretty dead on usually. The second option costs more but will be more accurate.

Well I underdstand your point but I don't have that many mods and I really just need the chip to correct my speedo and line pressure in the tranny for a gear install, and turn my MIL's off for my o/r h-pipe. I don't really want to change my timing cause gas prices are to high and honestly I don't want else the chip could really do for me.

Just mail it in. It doesn't sound like you're trying to tweak for every horsepower you can get out of your engine. Mostly driveability changes.

Consider this... premium gas is about $0.25 more than regular. That's about $3.50 on a full tank. How many times do you fill up? Once a week? Once every other week? You're looking at maybe $90 a year for a decent throttle response increase. Compare that to $400 for a throttle body/plenum combo that gives you maybe 6-10 hp.

Dyno tuned calibration is always going to make for the best possible power gains and the safest tunes for your vehicle. Looking at the air fuel with a wide band O2 sensor is best case scenario, if your tuner has a portable wide band you may still get the benefit of using it with out dyno time.

An automatic with a gear is always a little tricky and may need multiple tries to get the vehicle to shift just where you need it to, rolling start vs. from a stop can take some trial and error time. It is all about the slippage in the transmission, how well the car hooks and a few other variables.

Bottom line I suggest you go to the CMR tuner and let him work on the vehicle, sending the chip to a mail order tuner will cost you in freight, and if he is not able to hit it on the first try, double the freight. As far as dyno time, its worth it, safety and power for an extra 150.00, your call.

you should wait until after you install your gears because if you dont you are going othave to send off the chip again to have it reburned for your gears. just install the gears and other stuff then burn the chip, with the few mods you have a chip isnt even worth it now.

You could always just go the Predator instead of a chip, now you can make the gear change when need be, fine tune the calibration as needed including the transmission, have full diagnostic features, data monitoring and logging capabilities.

The Predator cost is higher then a chip but the flexability if offers and added features make it the best value.

And you can still get a custom tune loaded into it, if you desire, later on..
