Did Bassani completely mess up the exhause flanges?

Just recieved a Bassani x-pipe with cats (50933), but the flanges look completely wrong?

I am missing something here, or did they weld the totally wrong flanges for this style of fitting? I thought the ball socket usually used a supporting cone on the flange. The bolt holes in the header side are also to small to fit my header collector bolts.

Might be better off asking them, looks like they changed alot of stuff from what it used to. Looks like they us the cheap ass china ceramic spun cats too now.

I already contacted them. They list the cat as ceramic, but it sure looks like a metallic cat.

They look like the 99-04 style flanges to me but. Been a long time since I owned anything from them.

Looks like the same core most rebrand for those stubby cats, have to love all the warning now lol. pretty sure all the Holley owned brands like flowmaster dumped that product or are still clearancing them out. EPA killed off alot of exhaust manufacturers and stuffs just getting discounted left and right.

I've been buying up the clearance hooker blackheart stainless swap kits to make my own exhaust on a few cars since they where dirt cheap. Started ditching the ball and sockets connectors at the headers for butt clamps. Have been using the Norma group torca style butt joints everyone is selling under license, not sure that will work for shorties though. hooker has the best prices on them for a pair in 2.5 or 3" and China hasn't knocked it off yet. They work well enough for OEM's to use in production cars now, see them on alot of higher end euro stuff, way better then those flimsy lap joint clamps.. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hok-41172hkr

Looks like they switched to the laser cut flanges two years ago, they didnt say why, but it seems like step backwards to me.

I put the Bassani X-pipe with cats on my '86 a couple of years ago, and the flanges were different than what you show. Hopefully Bassani has an explanation for the changes...

They are sending me some new downpipes supposedly with the old style flange, but they did say they changed to the laser cut style about 2 years ago. The bolt holes on the ones they sent are definately not correct for the stock 1/2-13 collector bolts.

Anyone have issues with the hanger bracket stubs not working? Mine are at least an inch to far forward to work, not sure if that because of the mount location on the TKO600 or somthing else. Maybe that is also because the downpipes are wrong, but I guess we'll see when the new ones arrive.

Probably because the majority of after market including ford used 7/16 since the 90 models on push rod 5.0 stuff. I doubt they sell a ton of them these days.

Termec mount pad vs t5 difference will move the hanger mount but shouldn't be a full inch.

Interesting that they still run a smog pump tube to those universal style cats. More and more states are banning them. Pretty crappy deal with how bad theft of cats have become too, oem.prices are insane if you can still even buy them for a bunch of cars they target. We where doing tons at toyota.

The provision for the smog pump is there, but look where it connects. It joins to the X, after the cats. It’s just there to give you a spot to connect it if you have to keep the pump. IIRC most aftermarket H and X pipes do this, catted or not.

I blocked it off. No pump on my car.

And yup, I still have a stock H-pipe tucked in my shed hopefully never to get used again.
