Did fluid changes.

Well this weekend I decieded to change out all the fluids and filters so that I know exactly what was in it.I was not aware that this thing would hold 6.5qts of oil....I changed out the tranny fluid with full synthetic and I didnt think that it would make that much of a difference.I mean the shifts feel smoother and the tranny seems quieter..Also didnt know that the pcv would be a dealer item either,it has a wiring connector going to it,anyone know why that would be?The local auto store had K&N filter %25 off also,got 1 for $40,not too bad.

Then while removing the oil filter my hand slipped and busted the oil line going to my oil gauge so I had to replace that,and yes it was copper line....thats my kinda luck tho.Quick question for everyone....what type of motor oil does everyone like to use and why?I used Castrol GTX since it was on sale,normally $3.30 a qt but got a gallon for $8.59,got 2 so i saved about $11.

wire on the pcv is the heater power, if you are in texas you shouldn't need a heated one, they are alot higher!!

i have a love affair with mobil one oils, highest quality widely available full synthetic out there

.Thats what I used in the tranny,Mobil 1.I ordered a pcv from Ford...it was only like $7.Normally I use Mobil 1 oil but like I said the other was on sale so I tried it out.Yeah with the heat and humidity around here...nothing needs to be heated.

Autozone had the Castrol GTX on sale $15 for 5 quarts and a Bousch filter.
Have you noticed the price of conventional oil... so I wanted to save some $
Probably my top 2 favorites are Valvaline conventional or Mobil 1.

+1 on the mobil one. if i were to use anything else i would try royal purple.

and as far as your heater, i would leave it juuuuuust in case. you never know. i was stationed at ft. hood until sept of last year and i dont know if anyone else was in that area, but remember all those sub 30 degree days? like weeks worth. oh, and i almost forgot about the 2 ice storms and the 8 inches of snow we had easter weekend.

Oh yeah - and don't forget to change the fuel filter! That will save you big right now, and possibly pay for itself with your first full tank of gas - especially with the way speculation has been driving up the spot oil contracts.

Bryan/College station for me.The Humidity is terrable here.

To the other poster i remember that ice around fort hood,we usually get it once a year in this area too and Jan-Feb can get into the 20's.I travel to Waco some too(got family) there and it can get into the sub 20's there.So Ill keep the stock valve on,its not much more than the one my GT had.

Not bad but I got 8qts(2 2gal Jugs) fot just under $20 O'rielly's.Normal price for them by the qrt is $3.30 or so.But I got a Motorcraft filter,I try not to buy anything Bousch,just dont like them.

I use Valvoline 5w20 with a Motorcraft filter. I don't like Fram. If I can't get a Motorcraft I'll get a Purolator Pure One filter.

May want to do some research before making that statement about Fram.

I avoid their oil filters like the pleauge, for the Stang anyway. Ive used them on the beater truck before.


I use Motorcraft synth. blend for the GT.

I agree on the Fram filters,Hell I cant even get them off without crushing the damn things,Ill stick with the Motorcraft filters.My dad has been using the motorcraft blend mainly cause he has been getting a 5qt jug from wallyworld for around $12 or close to it,I thought about trying it but didnt know much about it.And I had the local auto parts order me a pcv but they ordered the wrong one,come to find out they can order the correct one for the Mach but the damn thing is $30,.damn valve cost more than the whole oil change.....

FRAM = CRAP. Stick with Motorcraft filters.
