My 95 Gt is lowered with an auto, stock rear end with a 3.73 gear. I installed the gears myself about 20k miles ago and have not had a problem. Today i was driving and i hit a massive bump in the road, and as soon as i did it, there is a clunking noise comming from the car. It is definitley part of the rotating driveline. It sounds like its comming from the rear/driveshaft. It does it in drive and reverse, and also when i turn the car off (try to pinpoint the sound), put it in neutral and slowly cost, it does it. Does it sound like my gears are broken. i installed them, and i have a small amount of experience, but im no expert, so it could be that the gears werent installed properly and that massive bump finished it off. Sorry its so long, but i was trying to be as specific as possible. so what do you guys think?

okay thanks thats what i was thinking....i just got two jackstands. a ujoint was also another thought, but im not very familiar with them. anyone else have any input?

oh yeah i did look under the car....but the driveshaft looked fine, but it was an akward angle...and that doesnt mean its broken, so im not sure, thats why i think its possible its the gears

You can put a pry bar in the u joints and give them a bit of force to see if they give any. Also I would look for very clean areas to see if there is any rubbing.

When my clutch packs in my rear end went out. It was so bad the car would bind up like and bog the car down just backing into the garage. It sounded like the gears were binding bad. I had pictures of torn teeth in my head. Pulled the cover and all was fine. Just worn out clutches. Replaced those and it's still running today. :nice:

thanks for the info.....im gonna climb under it tomorrow after class. I replaced the clutch packs and basically rebuilt the stock t-lok. there was no signs of wear, it just happened when i hit that bump. to be honest, i hope its the gears. good reason to upgrade to a 4.30
