how easy is it to rebuild diff. and how long might it take? also i plan on putting in some ford racing gears what tools might i need to get to put them in correctly and measure clearences. and do the FR gears come with shims.
The tools required to install a ring and pinion will cost more than the $100 - $150 for specialist to do the work. The DIY meathod of using Prussian blue lapping compound is a major pain! I tried it once and still didn't get it right.
While i haven't rebuilt a Traction Lok unit, I have seen several kits to do so. If i remember correctly, they consist of a bunch of springs and friction plates. I'm guessing this would be more tedious than difficult.
Most ring & pinions come as just that - a ring & pinion. You'll need to purchase the installation kit as well.
