Hi all, Are there differences between Bp, Mobil, and Marathon 93 Octane gasolines? Are they all the same? The reason I'm asking is that I've always used Amoco 93 but switched to Bp when Amoco was bought out. Now I'm getting detonation with the Bp 93. I don't have any problems with Sunoco Ultra, its just that Sunoco's are few and far between. Do you guys have any opinions on this? BTW car has low miles. Thanks

i can only wish for 93, all we have out here is 91. i think that the base stock that they get their petroleum from is the same, however each company has their own proprietary set of additives they add.

With my O/R exhaust I get the SES light (with MIL Eliminators) on anything but Mobil 93 octane. (No Sunoco here, so I can't vouch for that)
BP 93 octane, or any other 93 octane give me the light.
Car seems to run better on the Mobil too....
Just my $0.02

Most BP's use Amoco fuel. Well, around here they do anyway, they advertise that on TV and Radio. Maybe where you are it's different.
I use 93 BP(Amoco) and have never had a problem. I ALWAYS go to the same gas station. Heck, I usually always use the same epump even...
Did you switch stations? Or did the one you go to before change ownership? Maybe the new place you went to just has crappy tanks or something? I was told to stay away from older gas stations when I got my SC.
Are you blown? DO you actually NEED 93?

I have had nothing but problems with BP gas in my mustang.. my jeep on the other hand doesnt seem to mind it. I use shell gas because they are all over the place here so there is no need to really use anything else... and i've never had a problem with shell in either vehicles. 93 for mustang and 87 for jeep
I use whatever kind of 93 Octane in my 97 Cobra with a timing adjuster set at 13*. I usually use Mobil 1, but also use BP on a regular basis, but 93 octane. I have never had a problem with switching them up. On the way home from a trip, I was in the middle of no where and needed to stop at a no namer gas station to fill up. All they had was 92 octane. So I filled half a tank up and so far am running perfectly fine with that.
Maybe I'm just lucky, but in my case 93 octane is 93 octane.
