I want to get my car painted soon and i am doing the prep work myself. Do the shops use a non hardening pain on the ubber side mouldings and the plastic bumpers and stuff so it doesnt crack when it flexes?
There's a flexible additive that they can add to most paints. You might want to call the shop you plan on taking it to and ask them what you might need to do before handing it over to them.
What the flex agent is put in the paint for is for parts that are painted off Like Bumpers, Moulding , So when you install them you can bend them to a certain degree without cracking the paint. And the flex additive will only last for about 90 days about the same as the time it takes the paint to harden. Unless it was baked in a oven in the paint booth.
