Gotta 87 gt. Dimmer switch just went out and costs $90.00 for another. Low on mula at the moment. Does anyone know how to bypass the switch and wire it straight. I hate not having dash lights. Thanx
actually i meant for a new ford one. i've tried used ones. this is my third. maybe there's some cheap knockoffs out there but i'd just assume bypass it and be done with it. anyone know how to do that?
actually thats the only thing that does work on the dimmer switch. the dome light control. for right now anyways. probly be a safer bet to assume the dome light function will ultimately fail too. any idea what wire goes where to bypass it completely?
If you've been using the old style dimmer with the aluminum housing and coil rheostat you should try the newer style with the plastic housing and metal contact pads. Maybe it will work out better for you.
For a temp fix you can just run a jumper from the BR wire to the LB/R and bypass the dimmer portion of the switch while leaving the dome light switch intact. To bypass the dome light switch you would have to install a suitable switch between the LG/Y and BK/LB wires.
