Dimmer switch

You could connect the dimmed circuit to the parking light circuit. Your instrument lights would be at full potential at all times.

Then you'd have to rig up a switch for the dome light if that function on the dimmer switch is also wonky.

actually thats the only thing that does work on the dimmer switch. the dome light control. for right now anyways. probly be a safer bet to assume the dome light function will ultimately fail too. any idea what wire goes where to bypass it completely?

If you've been using the old style dimmer with the aluminum housing and coil rheostat you should try the newer style with the plastic housing and metal contact pads. Maybe it will work out better for you.

For a temp fix you can just run a jumper from the BR wire to the LB/R and bypass the dimmer portion of the switch while leaving the dome light switch intact. To bypass the dome light switch you would have to install a suitable switch between the LG/Y and BK/LB wires.
