ok here is my deal. i am about to be using a 69 302 block and it has no hole for the dipstick tube to go in. it used to have the timing cover with a dipstick there. i don't want that since the dual sump pan is going to be there. are there any companies like lokar or something that i can go to, and drill a hole in the pan and screw in a dipstick or do you think i can weld in the stock dipstick tube in the stock oil pan and mark off the right amount of oil that it needs. any suggestions.

My 351 has the dipstick in the pan. You should be able to get a similar pan for a 302. There is no reason you cant make one. The angle is going to be fairly severe and the tube needs be close to the headers.

Being my unknowing self, I opened this thread thinking you weren't able to read the dipstick or something. Then thinking I could help I would have told you how to use it. Now I feel like an idiot because there is more than one possible dipstick problem. Then I did a google search and found these oil pans. Is this what you are looking for? Am I allowed to link to this?

I imagine that link may be construed as advertising, but I beleive you are doing it to show an example of a pan that would solve the problem and not to sell pans for this company, so I doubt if they will block or remove it. Would be lame if they did.

Anyway, thats exactly the type of pan you will be loking for. Several manufactures make them, you could buy them just about anywhere Summit, Jegs, etc... I bought mine through Holocomb Motorsport. They include the correct pickup and dipstick. BTW, my 351W Moroso pan was like $170 (including pickup and dipstick).
