Okay, I'm down to head bolts, manifold- h pipe bolts, and the dipstick tube. The first two I got covered but can anyone shed some light on how I can get this thing out without destroying it?? I have limited time, tools, and space so any help would be incredibly useful. . .I'm doing this in my barracks parking lot......

I bent 4 valves and broke 4 rockers in the DS head when my chain jumped time. I ended up replacing the tensioner and crank sprocket as well. I am putting on a pretty nice set of ported PI heads. As an update I was able to get the required funds and a ride to pickup a head change kit from my local friendly 5.0 Resto friends, thanks babe;)

Take out the bolt and take the dip stick out of the tube. You'll have to wiggle the tube all around and it will come out.

Is this bolt the one up by the valve cover or is there another one lower down the tube. It's dark now and I can't go out and look at the damn thing. . .get back to it bright and early tomorrow:)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a PI swap kit come with a different dipstick tube anyway? For some reason, I'm remembering the NPI and PI motors using a different stick, so breaking off the old one wouldn't be such a big deal. :shrug"

Here's a pic of the dipstick tube from when I did shorty headers on my car:

You can see at the top of the pic the bolt that holds the dipstick tube. Note the the tube snakes between the motor mount and the block. If I recall correctly I ended up taking the motor mount off the block so I could get that damn tube back on. I got it out in place, but couldn't get that m%$#! f$(*@!$# back in the hole.

I can't remember if there was another bolt at the bottom of the dipstick.

Good luck!
