Dire need of help with gears...

I'm really torn between 3.55 and 3.73 gears. I really want to go 73s, but I've heard horror stories about traction and unfortunately she'll be seeing a snow or two in the winter. What do ya'll think I should go for?

From your list, 3.73.

Although I'd highly recommended going all out and getting the 4.10 gear.

Next time you're at the track and grabbing for every tenth of a second off your time and you chose the 3.73 gear you're going to regret not spending the money on the 4.10 gearing.

If you drive on the freeway a lot, it'd be wise to stick with 3.73 but when it comes to race day you're going to want the 4.10s bad.

It's one of those choices you're going to have to make. Similar to having a strong drag car or a strong cornering car. There is nothing in the middle.

Dont be gay get 4.10's. If not get 3.73s. Dont waste your money on 3.55, trust me! My car is a daily driver snow and all. My car is also lowered 1 3/4". We get plenty of snow in Chicago. If I could do it all over I'd go 4.10 or 4.30.

We're talking about 'stangs here.

Don't tell me you think you can have a car setup *perfect* for drag and expect it to take corners? Or vice versa.

Sure, you can have adjustable components and setup for either drag or autoX, but it always favors one or the other when in motion.

Go with 4.10's at a minimum, or better yet 4.30's. Then go buy yourself a beater to drive in the winter!

I am very happy with my 3.73's .
Good milage on highway,and good eaze of in,and out of traffic when in need to pass.I personally think that 3.73's are a perfect all around gear.
If i was hardcore into drag racing only, 4.10's would be my choice,reason being that there is noticably more room for more gear .
Choice is simply yours,just stay away from 3.55's,you'll wish you went bigger.
I know a few guys that would like to swap out there 3.55's for bigger.But some people like them .

Thanks...I don't get a lot of track time and I'm on the freeway quite a bit. Sounds like 3.73s it is.

As for the Enzo--you're absolutely right. I work at a Ferrari dealership and had the chance to ride in one. Handling is like a slot car and the torque is enough to make you want to change your shorts afterwards Definately the best of both worlds (for a mere $700k!)

Dude i HAD 3.73's, never installed them. traded them for 4.10's and never looked back. Just don't be an A-hole in the rain or whatnot, and traction wont be a problem. I'm not even going to read other people's responses, and im just gunna say to with the 3.73s if thats what you really want. I deal with snow (RARELY) i avoid it at all costs, but my 4.10s are great.

not to mention the f-40 and f-50 you had to have owned previously, last I heard the car was selling for ~$2,000,000. You have to be pretty exclusive to get one.

get the 4.10s. Find someone that has them installed on their car and take a ride in it. This is what helped me on my decision and I do not even go to the track. Now I just have to buy them. It is great all around gear.

Im very happy with my 3.73's. For my daily driving they are perfect. I do about 50/50 city/hw driving, and manage over 300 miles/tank normally. For me 3.73's put the revs perfectly where they need to be in every gear BUT 5th. To me, 5th is still to low, but the other gears are perfect for my tastes. To each his own though. If you plan on dragging the car a lot and want to squeeze all you can out of it, definately go 4.10's/4.30's youll need it.

I noticed in your sig you have 24 lbs injectors , why ? you are no where near needing them ......my vote from your choices on gears is 373s ....

I got the injectors for the 85mm meter. I thought it was a little overkill myself, but they suggested getting them with the meter, so...

And the guy that bought the Enzo still has his F40 and F50. They're sitting in his personal museum along with a lot of vintage race cars and one-offs. :worship:
