I'm looking into buying a car but I'm concerned about a coolant leak that seems likely to be caused by a cracked intake manifold. I understand this problem is not rare on this year/model.
I like to ugrade any time something breaks but this car is for my brother or his son and I'd like to fix it on the cheap. I see this PI kit is $650.

My question: Is there a direct replacement for the 96-98 intake that will not crack like the factory piece?
