I went to the track for the first time since i baught my '90 GT and was pretty dissapointed. I baught the car from the previous owner who had it for his project car and he did a good amount of drivetrain/engine work to it. Its got high compression forged pistons, forged rods/crank, 255lhp, built AOD with manual valvebody, 32mm fuel injectors, E303,and solid motor mounts. thats all i can think of right now that he did but i installed e/h/i, 4.10's subframe connectors, and lower controll arms (and a few things i dont remenber).
So anyways i was at the track and i ran a best of 13.4 out of 3 runs (the other 2 were 13.5) which was a lot slower than i was hoping for, i thought i would at least get high 12/s. My 60 ft was about 2.3 sec on my best run and i was spinning a lot since i got stock tires still. I cant rember my mph but it might have 110 or 113 or something, might have been a little higher.
The main question i had though, is how much a high stall converter and slicks would help my 1/4 mile times. I started researching racing slicks and have learned a lot. I never liked the idea of using slicks before because i didnt like the drivetrain wear i thought they added but I understand them better now and im going to buy some that fit my rims in a day or 2.
And im guessing with the added traction Ill also need a high stall converter. I have a 1500 right now and i spin the stock tires like crazy, but with the slicks i think i can go with a 2800 stall since my power comes on hard a about 3000 and i think it would be high enough to launch good but not break loose.
Im open to opinions about my setup (after the stall and slicks i have no idea what my next mods will be), and if you guys could possably estimate where the new stall converter and slicks would put me in the 1/4 mile i would definently appreciate it.
Thanks
