I have an '04 SC281 and went to 3:73 gears (Ford Motorsports) from the stock 3:27. Yes, the car feels a bit quicker but only a bit. I installed a Bassani X pipe with free-flow cats a the same time so I don't know if it's the gears or exhaust I feel. I was expecting much more having installed gears on my vette in the past. Should it feel really different or only marginally so? I'm thinking I should have gone with 4:10's but opted not to based on the feedback on this forum......most said no with a supercharger.

Thoughts thanks,!

You might need to drive a little more aggressive. You should have def. felt a bigger kick in the pants with the 3.73's. If you still don't feel it, don't wear boxers when you drive

Hmmm yours has standard trans I guess? I love the 373's with my auto trans. Any more gear than this first gear would be useless. Sometimes first goes by so quickly you dont realize the gains you have gotten. lol If you drive alot on the freeway or travel I think you would hate the 4:10's

I felt a huge difference With just the gears alone, Now the Pulley, CAI, TB etc and the car hits 100 In no time.

YOu usually feel a good difference especially coming from 3.27's.

Are you sure you got 3.73's? I remember the last time I was down at Chicane and they were getting ready to install Ford Motorsport 3.55's in a car and 3.73's were in the box that said 3.55's on the ring and pinion set. ??? The tech caught it. That would have sucked.

With the swap you are now having to shift earlier and 1st gear is probably very short. Gear change doesn't always help on a blown car. I just took the 4:10 out of mine and installed the 3:55 back in it. It didn't change that much

I went from 3.08's to 3.55's. Definitely one of my favorite mods

Haha. Getting my new chip tomorrow. I'm hoping for 460rwhp/450rwtq with the A/F all nice and smoothed out

I'll say. Don't rip on it too hard over 5400 rpm before your new tune, your fuel is going away quick.

Nah, that's right where I want it to be all the way across Like where I was with the 10psi pulley.

I put 4.10's in my car at the same time I had the motor done, so it's hard for me to tell what difference the gears made specifically. I know it runs a lot better, then again it should with 110 more rwhp! Mine isn't s/c'd but if I had it to do over again, I probably would go with the 3.73's. First gear is really useless, albeit the transition from first to second in a power shift is pretty fun...

Yah,

Your run you posted here, the one back in May looks great. I'm talking about the one your posted earlier that was done on the 6th of this month.

I'm thinking 4.10s is the way to go based on most people whose cars are sub 400rwhp. I know a guy with a 420rwhp centrifugal SC that went to 3.73s from 4.10s and decided to go back to 4.10s because the 3.73s, in his opinion, felt like stock.

I've driven a handful of different geared similar mustangs, and when you are talking about 1 ratio in difference generally it can't be felt.

As far as the original poster goes, if you don't drive hard you can't tell, and if you don't beat on it early you'll get used to it without even knowing it.
The difference shows up at the track though, without a doubt.
