can you use that example in a formula for us all? I tried it with some made up numbers and got like 45,158.4
Click to expand...

I will use my car as an example 2,800lbs. x (110 x 110) = 33,880,000
10,000 x 11.95 = 119,500
33,880,000 divided by 119,500 = 283.52 rwhp

i went with my sig mods and only pulled 226hp and 307 torque on my first run, then by the 4th it was up to 281 and 320. Don't feel bad, i was expecting more too.

oh wow that is pretty accurate, i put in 3200lbs (a guess) and 13.6 (the last owner ran) at 114 and it came up with 305.

What kind of shape was the bottom end of the motor in? Did you run compression checks before modding?

Power drops quick right after 4,000rpm on best pull. What's up with that?
OOOPS!!! I read your sheet wrong. Compare yours with mine by looking at the 2nd page of my homepage. My car was basically stock then.

It needs to be rewritten then:

( W x (T2) ) / (10,000 x E) = rwhp

W= weight
T2= Trap squared
E= ET

Hope that clears it up a little. You have to do either side of the equation first, then divide those two numbers. If you do the equation in sequence from left to right, you'll come up with some crazy numbers. My car should have had 45,000 hp or something like that. lol

Look at the second page of my home page to compare dyno numbers with my almostly completely stock 1993 LX. I ran 13.7 and 8's with 8" slicks and no power shifting with the car at that time. Air cond was still on the car also. Ran those numbers with the stock front wheels and 225-50"s on them.

i say you have some sort of issue somewhere. a friends Cobra did right under 300rwhp with the 165's and B-cam. as far as the Cobra intake, they are not restrictive. same guy put a intercooled D-1 (170k mile shortblock) on his and made over 520rwhp. with the stock TB and a AFM cam. i no very little about it (for now) but several of the guys i know are using the Tweecer R/T and have had very good results with the tuning. just something else to check into. i didnt look at the chart yet but as far as dropping off after 4k rpm, is there any chance for some reason you are pegging the MAF with the new heads. just something to check.

the reason the difference is so large is because on the mustang dyno you enter the vehicle weight with driver and a drag coefficient at 50 mph. In other words, a real world load on the motor. On a dynojet there is a brake applied to the drum to put resistance on it, but it is the same resistance the entire way through the rpm range.

what does that have to do with HP/TQ?
take a 250hp/250tq engine and put it in a bug-eye sprite, or a bently, and it should make 250/250.
dyno is supposed to measure power, not potential.

Remember in algebra always () first. So if you do it first it comes out right just as it was written. You wrote better though.

Disappointing dyno pull

I bet you are disappointed. I have a 93 Cobra with 21k miles, and is bone stock other than K&N filter, BBK Shorty headers, and flowmasters. 2 years ago, I was curious on the HP so I took it to a dyno shop. I pulled 228 at the rear wheels on all 3 runs. Hopefully you can find your HP, especially after all the work you have done.

Good Luck!

my buddy's got one we ran it at the track on sat night. He's not too good but here are the mods and #'s.
bbk cold air int., short headers, bbk h-pipe w/ cats, flows 40's. bbk t-body
1st run: 15.5
2: 14.8
3; 14.6

Last year his best ever was 13.8. He is also running Pig rich @ the top end, I was trying to talk him into a pms or Tweeker, but he didnt want to mess with the COBRA. 130k on the car w/ street tires.
