I've been having this sound coming from under the car recently. The only way to describe it is the sound a 6 inch iron pipe would make if you rolled it down a rough street. It only happens after I rev, on the down rev, and when I downshift as I'm slowing down.
Recently, it has been getting louder and louder, then this morning I noticed it was really bad. At first I though it might be the exhuast hitting the drive shaft, but it does it when I'm not moving too. So I opened the hood and revved it and found that it seems to be coming from the back of the motor. On my way to work I saw that my low oil light came on. I got to work and checked the oil and it looks like I need 2-3 quarts!
At this point, would anyone have any suggestions? I'm hoping it's not the rear main, but with my past balancer problems, I would think the front would go first. My worst fear being a new long block is in the works
I guess I can afford it, but it would make a huge dent in the bank.
Any help woud be great, thanks!
