I found that my dear mustang now deserves some new paint, and I have arranged to deliver my car ready stripped to the paint shop.

However, I wonder how one dismantel the following:

1. Remote mirror (ds): The cables seem to be welded to the adjustment knob. How do I get it off??

2. The fake air intake scoops?

3. Window moldings?

For the window moldings they make a special tool to pry them off without causing damage to them. Its relatively inexpensive. If you are going to replace the molding with new you can get the original molding off with a screwdriver and some prying around the clip areas.

My 67 doesnt have a remote mirror so I cant help with that. I left the side scoops on my car for painting.

Since you said fake air intake scoops, I'll have to assume your talking about a 67. Remove the back seat and trim panel on each side of the car. There will be a couple of nuts that are hard to get to and easy to drop. As far as the remote mirror, do you need to remove the knob? Once you remove the mirror, will it slide through the opening in the door still intact? The window moldings pop off of their clips with a trim removal tool. I think the back has a couple of screws that are visible. Take car not to dent the car when prying.

Right on about the scoops, 4 nuts each on the inside of the quarter panel drops them out. I had my windows out before I removed them, so I don't know how easy they are to get to with them in place. But I took my windows out for paint so you may to.

I cut my remote mirror cables out because the chrome was beat to, well you know. But I think that you can unattach each of the three individual cables right at the handle if you want to reuse it after paint. I had a hard time with the screw holding the mirror on too, a real pia to get them out b/c the nut kept spinning.
