how can you tell if a distributor is bad or going bad? my car runs alright, but it just seems like there is always a miss. is always been there ever since i got the car and ive changed everything except the distributor. new coil, wires, cap, rotor, tfi module, and plugs. it idles fine and drives fine, but when i really get on it there isnt that smooth 5.0 exhaust sound, it sounds like its missing really bad. its not detonation because the timing is set at 10*. id just like a little input from anyone who has had a similar problem. thanks

ECU, the 94-95 guys get the miss from the PIP often. Here is the only thing I know to do (if the issue is not felt while stationary, where a CBT might reveal something).

I would remove the cap and spray elec contact cleaner around the PIP components. Sometimes dirt and dust builds up and can cause a miss of sorts.

Good luck.

Wow, it might be time to replace the PIP/stator given the miles. The PIP is cheap but it can be a pain to play with the gear. Some folks opt for a LLT reman'd dizzy instead.

Good luck.

Sounds like a plan and is what I would do too. If you grab the mainshaft in the dizzy, I think it might have some play in it (there is only one bushing supporting the shaft). That can play lots of games with the PIP. Ergo replacement sounds cool.
